2025 Is About To Get Busy!
Once we hit April 26 at Paddy Mac’s in Verona we’re in “Beast Mode” pretty much through Halloween! The “Colonel” spent last fall and winter cramming every show she could into our available calendar space.
The result? Lots of opportunity to stock up on Great American Music just about everywhere you turn! (Please click the link above to see our complete schedule for the rest of the year.)
May is always an exciting time of the year for us. The weather makes it possible for us to get back outside, where most people agree Dawgs should play when they can! The 15th is the anniversary date of the conception of this group. It came in a flash to the bass player at a honkytonk in Nashville—before he knew how to play a bass! A month later we had our first rehearsal. Three months after that, our first gig!
May also marks our return to Wisconsin’s North Woods as Da Bar in Rhinelander brings us back for the third year running! We’re making it sort of a mini-vacation at a nearby campground and enjoying all the things Northern Wisconsin has to offer.
The show is Friday, May 16 starting at 6:30. Already we are hearing of fans from Central and Southern Wisconsin are making the trek to join us! There’s plenty of room for you too!
One new venue for us is Madison International Speedway just outside of Oregon on Saturday and Sunday May 3 & 4. We’ve gotten to know the owners (Angie and Gregg McKarns,) through a show we played for them last summer at Jefferson Speedway. If you’re coming for the races you’ll see us there! We’re excited to play for an entirely new audience!
The rest of May we’re dropping in on a lot of old friends. And in these cases we’re scheduled several more times throughout the year.
The Pink Heifer Saloon and Smokehouse in Monticello is our hangout on Friday, May 2. Exciting news came out of the Pink Heifer recently; they’re massively expanding their operations to multiple regional locations! We’re unbelievably happy for them, and look forward to following their success as they branch out! However, for now the Monticello location is the only place we’re booked for now.
Friday, May 9 is our return to the Backyard at Lake Louis Brewing in Verona! We do just fine in the taproom when weather won’t allow an outdoor show, but we sure do look forward to cranking the tunes on that amazing stage! Lake Louis is also expanding their operations and every time we go there we find something new to drink (or eat, when a food truck comes along!)
We return to the Cork Down Saloon outside of Blanchardville on Saturday, May 10. They did a great job creating indoor space for live music over the winter, but it’s time to strip the walls down and let ‘er fly! And the area is ATV/UTV friendly, with motorcycle rides running by too!
We play Paddy Mac’s in Verona twice in the next calendar month; Saturday, April 26 and May 24. Current owner Pat McCarthy has made this place a dominate live music presence in the area. We’re proud to be a frequent contributor to that reputation! If you are one of the few who hasn’t checked out Paddy Mac’s since Pat took over, you have two opportunities to see us rock it from now through Memorial Day!
One of our first ever venues has us back on Sunday, May 25. We get to play on the hillside of Bailey’s Run outside of New Glarus on Memorial Day Weekend! Bailey’s is almost the exact same age as the band—not to be confused with the age of its members—and we’ve been joined at the hip with them ever since! As long as those hips can continue to move to Great American Music we hope to be on that hillside for years to come!
The last day of May we will be cranking tunes across the Rock River in Jefferson as we return to Stable Rock Winery and Distillery! This gem is the perfect place to pair up wine, spirits, and fine food as you enjoy live music as the rest of the world just floats on by. It should be an amazing post-Memorial Day hangout opportunity!
And although it’s not technically in May, we return to the scene of the crime the very next day in Mount Vernon as we set up at the Mount Vernon Tap. Previously Marcine’s, our very first full length gig was there in November of 2017. It’s a special place for us. The pizza and other great menu items are still going strong, and the small town prices make it a great place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon!
All of this, and our season is just getting started!
